Introduction to Da Vinci robotic surgery

During this course students will acquire knowledge and skills in the set-up and functioning of the Da Vinci robot and will learn to understand and overcome functional errors. Students will also carry out laparoscopy exercises for practical application and intensive training in specific surgical techniques using animal or physical models.

Training aims

General objectives

  • To acquire the essential knowledge and skills in the clinical use of the robot-assisted laparoscopic approach with 3D vision.

Specific objectives

  • To assemble the robotic system in an aseptic environment.
  • To understand the basic operating mechanism while training in the essential skills for the surgical control of the system.
  • To apply and master the essential surgical movements of the robotic application via laparoscopic-assisted surgery.
  • To acquire the professional competencies in efficient patient care in cases with indications for intervention with the Da Vinci robot.
