Training aims

General objectives

To train in the comprehensive care process of patients with heart failure from a multidisciplinary and inter-level care-continuity standpoint.

Specific objectives

To understand the actions to be taken in heart failure patients at every step of the care process.
To diagnose heart failure. To achieve this, the student will initially identify the signs and symptoms of this condition and perform a differential diagnosis considering other conditions which may cause similar symptoms. The students will then learn the most common complementary explorations for the assessment of these patients.
To recognise the different types of heart failure (systolic and diastolic).
To master heart failure patient management, including the periodic decisions to be made and treatment modalities.
