MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) modality course for training students in making ethical decisions in complex clinical situations where sometimes the healthcare professional is not prepared to handle them competently, such as those that occur at the beginning or end of life or when decisions must be made on behalf of incapacitated patients.

General objectives

  • To understand the basic principles of bioethics to help make ethical decisions in complex clinical situations.

Specific objectives

  • To understand the clinical relationship as the core of medicine in terms of care, based primarily on the trust and mutual respect between the health professional and the patient.
  • To understand the importance of informed consent in the clinical relationship.
  • To explore the concept of professionalism where the health personnel is a professional group committed to acting in the best interest and good of the public.
  • To learn how to use the errors made in the training process as an opportunity for continuing improvement.
