Urologic Laparoscopy

In a two-day face-to-face course students train in laparoscopic surgery using physical and virtual models, and subsequently with live anaesthetised animals, in a realistic surgical environment in order to acquire the necessary skills for the application of the laparoscopic technique in the field of urology.

Training aims

General objectives

  • To acquire knowledge and skills in the laparoscopic approach for urologic pathologies.

Specific objectives

  • To acquire anatomical knowledge of the urological area.
  • To acquire knowledge of the instruments frequently used in urological laparoscopic surgery.
  • To acquire skills in order to successfully perform urologic laparoscopy (camera control, ambidextrous mastery of the technique, dissection and cutting, use of the electro-scalpel, coagulation, haemostasis control and suturing).
