Essential Laparoscopy in urology

This course provides training in laparoscopic surgery and endourology in a surgical laboratory environment using physical and virtual models and live anaesthetised animals. This training in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) dynamically integrates both the laparoscopic and endourological approaches where the professionals in training alternate between parallel workshops.

Training aims

General objectives

  • To acquire or develop the necessary knowledge and skills to acquire competence in the laparoscopic approach in urologic surgical pathology.

Specific objectives

  • To acquire the common techniques in laparoscopic surgical procedures.
  • To develop skills for laparoscopic practice in urologic indications.
  • To manage rigid and flexible cystoscopes and semi-rigid and flexible ureteroscopes.
  • To perform percutaneous nephrostomies.
