Haemostasis in chest and abdomen

In this course students acquire the necessary competencies to perform the different techniques associated with the correction of excessive chest and abdomen perioperative bleeding, thus improving patient care quality and safety. Different resources, methodologies and environments are used which are adapted to the characteristics of each workshop depending on the technique to be trained. Bioreactive models are employed in fully equipped operating rooms in order to practise interventions in an immersive, high-fidelity environment. This training event aims to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge in severe perioperative bleeding management in the area of abdomen and thorax surgery.

General objectives

  • To carry out the practical application of haemostatic techniques and technology on solid organs and vessels in order to improve patient safety and quality of treatment.

Specific objectives

  • To acquire knowledge and skills in the possibilities of a new generation of haemostatics for intraoperative use in different clinical situations.
