Course in surgical anatomy and cervical dissection

During this course surgical techniques are applied using a bioreactive human cadaver model in a realistic surgical setting. The teacher first provides a brief review of the procedure to be performed and gives the students a step-by-step definition. The students are then required to perform these same techniques on an animal bioreactive and on anatomical parts of human origin.

General objectives

To apply cervical dissection in human pathology.

Specific objectives

To understand and manage the basic instruments in cervical surgery.
To understand the different surgical approaches to be performed using a bioreactive (parotidectomy, submaxillectomy, tracheotomy, thyroidectomy, cervical lymph node dissection, thyroplasty, partial laryngectomy and total laryngectomy).
To acquire technical mastery of cervical dissection.
To perform all the most common surgical approaches in cervical surgery.
