Surgical techniques in degenerative lumbar spinal column pathology

This course examines the indications for performing the different decompression techniques (microdiscectomy, laminectomy and foraminotomy) and arthrodesis (posterolateral, PLIF, TLIF) on the lumbar spinal column, followed by workshops for small groups using a cadaver model.

General objectives

  • To acquire the knowledge and skills for the indication and technical implementation of essential spinal surgery.

Specific objectives

  • To safely apply the techniques for minimally-invasive spinal decompression in lumbar spine column pathology.
  • To safely apply minimally-invasive spinal fixation/instrumentation techniques in dorso-lumbar spine pathology.
